I'm interested in how social experiences throughout life shape the way individuals learn, interpret, and respond to communication signals. During my PhD, I studied the impact of social bonding on auditory perception in female songbirds. As a postdoc, I am investigating how humpback whales develop their songs on the northern feeding grounds, and the social and anthropogenic factors that influence song.
