Experience-dependent changes in social bonding, auditory perception, and underlying neural circuit activity in female songbirds
My thesis work investigates the impact of experience, both during development and in adulthood, on auditory perception. Using non-invasive, longitudinal behavioral and brain imaging experiments that manipulate the social experiences of female zebra finches, both early in life and in adulthood, we addressed essential questions about the experience-dependent plasticity of auditory preferences.Â
